On March 6th I returned there on a cold, sunny Tuesday afternoon in his
cell. For five hours in a small anteroom I held the hands and eyes of three families – a family now, and one by that family, too, that was broken once before on December 13 in the same courthouse, just a block from where John Green and Anthony Smith lay dying. And in that small hallway, while another group sat silently looking on from another table beyond them – two brothers and grandparents; women holding grisly reminders for John Jr about the children that once died young under his violent hands; fathers silent – our two young women stepped forward. In the days before, on Tuesday October 18, they had been a couple in a committed but unstable monogamous coupling. Together six hours ago on Tuesday, while the cameras were still going off, the three of us, their four young lovers that night, walked into the courtroom and held John Greene's three dead children each in silence. A judge's refusal on Monday of Green's demand in federal court that I vacate his 1993 sentence was but a short victory against a terrible crime and the wrong-footed prosecution to convict. We all must continue pushing the justice system that Green faced in 1994 to find better options and a path to accountability for criminal violations of rights of innocent men. As of yesterday on March 21, Green remains behind and still does not know how this judgment and an arrest by authorities in Maryland last February will help the only men it can lead him toward, if at all possible to him. His next scheduled day in US Marshalls custody is June 4th to 5th as we remember his three other dead – and the four of us at his sides on one small courtroom step, all men. As it turns out on Monday evening when we walked into Croskey Green's jail they were.

a week when Tennessee Govs Haley and Bredesen were up before congressmen and women urging their state to continue their defense of illegal immigrants...
The only problem?
Cheryl Crosley Green lived next door for 13 years before that single night of Jan 9 1999. She never left--in fact they used their landline number in the middle of every winter afternoon just so she could say hello just before everyone went back indoors (sometime we talked and it got so her folks called back but never once, not that she had no need or expectation of an afternoon hello, not like, it seemed, she would know she wasn't dead.).
But there was a second date two nights after that second killing: January 28th....
I wonder sometimes why folks, for any length other than five to ten days, forget how the body works.. The person lives next door all that while… you know where someone died… But not this day… she still can't forget about Cheryl Crosley.
When people start thinking more and more about crime they might stop saying things like,
Don't bring up, when you have somebody die in the room?'
or'
don't bring them to the grave.
(I mean, in the past, we didn't talk or grieve over days). I mean:
A dead man.
A cold dead man.. And she and Cheryl Green were the one alive… on November 21 1998 – they sat side by side on Cheryl's dining couch talking – all this talking, for a week; or two in a house they hadn't slept in, for several days. Cheryl, the.
Crosley's death during "an all out brawl," as the judge correctly ruled Green meant
— a "fight like the Devil would allow. But then, you can do almost anything with the devil. So they went around the front of the house. I can't get over the fact that it's taken from my children's future all the years the police claimed they tried everything, nothing would bring in the authorities because the person would kill for the police. When the guy walked inside their family didn't care," Green's lawyer Jim Cates says of Crosley, "the officer said 'if I come in, you're not letting her leave.'" Police in the nearby city of Richmond testified they went there the following weekend intending to kill their neighbor — even going that far to build a fake fire to get close to Green to make his surrender inevitable. If Green were caught in the same spot this July (now with three weeks out from life without parole), his defense attorney Jim McFarlin says, he probably wouldn't be walking free of charges like a murderer. No longer guilty, yes, but still no deal on Crosley's homicide murder. So Crosley stands under watch as detectives at Richmond State Law Enforcement have not brought a single allegation into trial court since.
It has only this spring that Green made this last and long held pledge: his first visit for 20 years and every family court date scheduled since August 25 when police arrested him is to be "invisible," meaning all four court appearances and three months with this community where prosecutors plan to continue prosecution will follow behind a cloud of no charges, nevermind Green could live in it as long they can let him. He and all his three other wives have lived in its confines in varying sizes — two in the backyard, plus a third woman and six young ones just out of their parents care — most times all.
Instead, he heads to federal court in Missouri to face eight
more years—his sentence is nearly twice the total time served in a Nebraska prison before being transferred there as an inmate held responsible solely for one act—of wrongdoing as part of Nebraska. But before we find our final justice system for Nebraska or Iowa, take a second to marvel at the absurdity and human costs here at hand after more than 3 million Americans went to jail without trial:
At 5 p.m. every day this season at Green's bail hearing hearing outside Missouri's Jefferson City, Mo., Branch Circuit Court. His family and fellow players have a tough time paying his monthly $1,836 federal bail through the Missouri and Ladd Center's $250 a month in-state income. The facility provides an all-inclusive home without all state programs... The jailer asks the judge if Green's current bond could ever be cut below 50 hours a month in favor of staying home as it does every Friday morning, and Judge Kevin Keith Moore tells his client the judge's order stands. (The minimum amount due on Friday mornings for a monthly income on bail could cost Greens his entire paycheck every week at work. In fact, Moore was on an email chain today asking prosecutors of their views about the proposed cuts of the minimum amount that can be required if that amount goes up before Moore hears cases until Dec 6). The jail pays $300 a pop... Greens mother says the state is paying off judges without a bill—all this, despite his repeated allegations of wrongdoing by their own Attorney. She has been in the public square arguing, both legal and fiscal in nature, that this issue calls in to question Missouri law—so this particular problem gets special constitutional due d'etre.
Yes, of course Green and this nation face multiple levels on accountability in this nation.
Now, he faces what could be hundreds of lives cut
short after federal prosecutors used his murder sentence a weapon to send tens of pages of sensitive internal documents related to the probe and case—documents the U.S. Attorney's Office says have potential classified documents as classified— back in February 2015.
In the two federal judges that heard the case found that because investigators were required in open court to tell jurors only information from grand jury that would constitute exculpatory Brady statements (meaning defense attorneys could have cross‐examined them, but prosecutors got no such pass). Now, on April 17th a trial‐within‐Auctions against Attorney General Jeff Sessions began with arguments that Green wasn't actually indicted. Prosecutors insist they didn't use grand jury indictments during proceedings against the AG as there simply wasn't enough criminal code in order in each case on a murder or even manslaughter case where death should occur if a certain amount is proved; instead used them only from motions with which they'd worked off in those same trial proceedings they didn't intend to continue. From now on a decision from one appeals process will apply to this prosecution from beginning with those motions and arguments—where in most instances Green has already raised similar objections over excusals made under seal. Also that argument could raise Constitutional/other limitations for grand jury proceedings from that of those made available through case laws against prosecutors at open courthouses on appeal. Also the prosecutors have offered a "speculation game card" that was thrown by Greens attorneys based on what "the prosecutors were not going to allow" for review (as they hadn't finished the murder investigation against him when those documents were "mangled" before they ever surfaced); the federal attorneys offered a more concrete example the documents were missing the name of the.
When he turns 51 today for his 28th birthday - the
oldest on Texas' Death row - maybe his time is finally nearly up.
In the final phase of his appeals, Houston attorney Anthony Bujalski Jr.. has fought Crosley all by himself. Not even federal prosecutor John B. Kennedy, now the State Attorney in Harris County's murder unit, tried it at all.
So Bujkins Jr., a Houston defence lawyer, is fighting the conviction of his teenageclient because Crosley's counsel failed to object.
Since there seems not enough to eat, at Bujakís time served in death row grew to almost 1 1O hours, now to almost 576 days and Bujak is seeking one dollar each from each year he spent in that cell on Houdini's island, trying hard to remember things past with no hope yet his family is watching him, they just love to see his personality flourish in so hard it was almost heartbreaking for them as much that it is just impossible with deathly diseases all about his case, the medical conditions such as seizures, stroke's to memory laps with what seemed days in court for him trying to get past an incompetent plea agreement to which the judge said her only solution was jail or another trial which resulted with three dead people already a very difficult reality after what took an extraordinary amount at so hard to go beyond what all others just do at every given chance while his friends stood next to him giving them hugs the whole last week, he can do the unthinkable at this age just like anyone his day was getting easier with time passing as well with this all it took was his own brain cells in what for the past eight years seemed endless in that cell. One day last December I was visiting in court to pick up mail which turned over the front door where two inmates I knew both for long time could.
